Shamokin- Ardella M. “Toots” (Rhoades) Dobson, 93, of 33 N. 6th Street, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, in her home just as she wanted, with family by her side.

She was born in Gowen City on August 27, 1932, to the late George and Mary Catherine (Waugh) Rhoades. Ardella attended Rising Sun and Shamokin Area schools.

On June 20, 1953, in St. Anthony’s Church, Ranshaw, she married Albert Dobson who preceded her in death in 2009.

Ardella worked as a beautician in her own shop in Brady. She owned and operated H&S Café from 1973 to 1984. Ardella also spent years working at Follmers Florist and other local businesses including Dobson’s Carpet Service, Shamokin.

Ardella enjoyed painting. She won a variety of ribbons at the Bloomsburg Fair for her artwork. She also liked taking trips to “the casino”. Over the years, she spent time flower arranging, embroidering, doing crossword puzzles, and porch sitting with friends.

Ardella is survived by two sons, George A. Dobson and his companion, Bridget Romero of Kissimmee, FL; Albert A. Dobson Jr. and his wife, Lori of Gowen City; a son-in-law, Tony Jacobacci of New Jersey; thirteen grandchildren, Christie (and husband, Ian), Gary, Marissa, Justin, Brian, Jennifer, Jocelyn (and husband, TJ), Allen, Amy, Alicia, Ardella, Trisha, Brandy (and husband, Travis “Jarvis”); fourteen great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy (2017); an infant brother, Robert Rhoades; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. With Ardella’s passing, a generation has come to an end.

A very special thanks to her devoted grandchildren, Brandy, Trisha, Christie and Ian, and her home health aide, Donna for their constant dedicated interest and care.

Ardella M. (Rhoades) Dobson, 93, of Shamokin– Celebration of life will be held, July 16, 2026, at ____, Wayside Inn, 6638 PA-61, Shamokin, PA 17872. Private burial will be held, July 17, 2026, at All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. Arrangements are being cared for by Gotlob-Campbell Funeral & Cremation Service, 539 Race Street, Sunbury, PA, James R.
