Dalmatia - Darwin Lee Witmer, 74, of Hickory Corners, PA passed away on March 1, 2026.

He was born at home on March 24th, 1951, in Berrysburg, PA, the son of Ray D. Witmer and Cora M. Witmer (Peifer).

Darwin graduated from Upper Dauphin High School and completed an associate’s degree from Harrisburg Area Community College and a business degree from Penn State Harrisburg. He was known as the area’s “Legend of Equipment Sales”, with a career spanning over 40 years selling equipment at Meckley’s and Prime-Line. Darwin was a lifetime member at local fire companies and the Sunbury Social Club. He spent many summers on the river in Sunbury and would often hang out with his good friends at the “Boat Club.”

Darwin enjoyed playing sports in his youth and later in life. He held the high jump record at his high school for many years and was a member of various local hockey and softball teams. Golf was another sport he enjoyed playing and watching. Darwin had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed attending wine & music festivals with his wife and children, especially at Spyglass Ridge Winery. His favorite music was Blues and Rock-N-Roll, which took him back to his younger days. He spent many hours playing cards with friends and family at the local fire companies, clubs, and cabins he belonged to. Anyone lucky enough to catch him a tone of those cabins or clubs probably got to enjoy his amazing french fries. To a lot of people, he was known as the King of French Fries. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife after they retired, taking numerous cross-country trips across the western United States and into Canada and Alaska.

He was an avid outdoorsman spending much of his time hunting with friends and his nephews at Bear Camp, Muzzleloader Camp and other cabins in PA. He also had many successful trips out west hunting for elk and muley in Colorado, Montana and Idaho.

Darwin will be remembered for his smile, laugh, good humor, and lighthearted demeanor. He was well known throughout the area as someone everyone enjoyed talking with and for celebrating the good times in life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Witmer, daughter Tara Witmer, sons Kenneth Bohner (Heather Bohner) and Michael Bohner (Jennifer Bohner); seven grandchildren (Michelle, Kenny, Melina, Danielle, Zach, Gabrielle & Olivia) and two great grandchildren (Stella and Mavis).

He is also survived by his brother, Irvin Witmer, and sisters-in-law Sandra, Vick & Jeanne. He was preceded in death by his brother Harold Witmer, sister Irene Shade and brother-in-law Dean Schaffner.
